Communicating local bus routes

Program Summary

The simple act of informing your local community about the transport options available may be the first step in reducing car dependency. This action was taken by the Transport Connections Project Officer for the Melton Shire Council.

The Transport Connections Project Officer prepared an easy to use directory guide that mapped the bus routes operating within Melton Shire, overlaying this with other transport modes and amenities and services within the municipality. The aim of the guide is to demonstrate to residents that it is possible to use the local bus to get to and from their chosen activities or programs.

The directory guide was included within the Melton Shire Council Learning Directory publication, term 2, 2009. Refer the attachment for a scanned image of the guide.
