Talaskia Road Precinct Travel Plan
Program Summary
The Talaskia Road precinct is located in Upper Ferntree Gully and covers an area of approximately 3 kilometres squared. The precinct has a noticeable sense of community and encompasses a diversity of uses including residential houses, a recreation reserve housing three sporting clubs, a primary school, children's services and a regional hospital.
In November 2007 Knox Council received a TravelSmart grant from the Department of Transport to implement the Talaskia Road precinct Travel Plan Project. This project will run from February 2008 until June 2010.
The project is led by a TravelSmart officer employed by Knox City Council and is guided by a steering group consisting of representatives from each of the project partners and a number of key stakeholders.
Project partners include:
- Eastern Health (including Angliss Hospital, Chandler House Community Mental Health Service and Edward Street Nursing Home)
- St Johns Tecoma Cricket Club
- Talaskia Child Care Centre
- Talaskia Scout Group
- Upper Ferntree Gully Playgroup
- Upper Ferntree Gully Preschool
- Upper Ferntree Gully Primary School
- Upper Ferntree Gully Tennis Club
- Upwey Tecoma Junior Football Club.
