Safety
Individual and community perceptions of safety in regard to travel
modes can have a significant effect on how many people utilise a
particular travel option, with negative perceptions being a major
inhibitor of behaviour change.
Road safety programs address safety issues for car users, cyclists
and pedestrians. Safety on public transport is under the jurisdiction
of the Public Transport Division of the Department of Infrastructure.

transport when acting in community best interest. Additional activities
may not be expensive and can provide a real local benefit.
