Safety

Individual and community perceptions of safety in regard to travel modes can have a significant effect on how many people utilise a particular travel option, with negative perceptions being a major inhibitor of behaviour change.

Road safety programs address safety issues for car users, cyclists and pedestrians. Safety on public transport is under the jurisdiction of the Public Transport Division of the Department of Infrastructure.
